Occasion: “Best Christmas Forever (BCF)”
Christmas party for underprivileged children, age group of 2 to 10
and the family who are having challenging times. 12 children and 8 parents
Direct participation method: Please bring your best pot luck dish, Any favorite food of yours! Giving them a ride to our pool, Donating candy to put into their stockings, Donating your bathing suits or towels, Donating any idea to make this fun and educational event, Donating your important time, or Coming to our party with a fun costume, i.e. Superman, Startreky, Man dressed up woman, cowboy, Hello Kitty, or Santa,etc.

According to Ms. Leilani Rodby Collins at Queen Lili’uokalani Children’s Center, they work towards ensuring that all Hawaiian orphans have a safe, permanent home with their closest relatives or extended family. Many of the families are Christian and they celebrate Christmas with their `ohana (family). Therefore, it is very difficult to gather only orphans for our Christmas party.

So, I took plan B to look for these children who are not going to have a Christmas party this year. God helped and guided me for visiting many shelters as much as possible and I was able to procure these five families. It took over two weeks for me to find them. Thanks to my husband. Traveling to many third world countries by myself to chase my husband (Navy guy), helped and gave me guts to visit these shelters by myself at night.

The Friend family is planning to have a Christmas party for “underprivileged children, and their parents” who are having their challenging time in this recession.

BCF’s mission is to create the best and the most memorable Christmas day for these underprivileged children. So, when these children grow up and look back on their Christmas memories, BCF became the No.1 Christmas they ever had. Then, these children will pay it forward to the next generation of underprivileged children.

“One small step for a great future”-Small steps count: Our small step (10 underprivileged children) helps 100 underprivileged children, if each underprivileged child copied us in the next generation, then, 10000, in the next generation, then 100000000 in the next generation. If we did this every year, we create the greatest America’s future and billion’s of happy children in this challenging environment.

I, John Friend, a Navy Chief, has an energetic wife with NTM and energetic father who was diagnosed to live 4-6months in year 2007 due to his lung cancer. Both of them have these challenging illnesses. But they are so alive when they are helping others. BCF not only benefit these under privileged children, but also makes us happy and curing their illness. We are just normal, small family people, who are trying to make a big change in the future.
